RESUMO

Objective:To explore associations of negative emotions with alexithymia and intrusive thoughts in cancer patients. Methods:A total of 115 cancer patients were assessed by Impact of Event Scale-Revised,the 20-item Toronto Alexithymia Scale, the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale, and the state anxiety subscales of State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Results:Negative emotions were positively correlated with alexithymia and the intrusive thoughts (r 0.251 to 0.600,P<0.01).Intrusive thoughts were significantly associated with the total score of alexithymia, difficulty in identifying feelings, and difficulty in describing feelings (r 0.261 to 0.430,P<0.01).The relation between alexithymia and negative emotions was partially mediated by intrusive thoughts, accounting for 40.71% of the alexithymia in total negative emotions. Conclusion:Intrusive thoughts play a role,at least partially in mediation of alexithymia and negative emotions.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the effects of borderline personality disorder (BPD) tendency and impulsivity on suicide ideation in counseling patients. Methods A total of 120 counseling patients were evaluated by the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire (PDQ-4+),Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS-11).All participants were also interviewed with self-made structured clinical questionnaire for suicide ideation.Re sults ①Patients with suicide ideation had significantly higher score of BPD tendency ((6.02 ± 2.15) vs (3.91±2.31),t=5.164,P<0.01),impulsivity ((72.05±8.58) vs (68.63±9.01),t=2.129,P=0.035) than patients without suicide ideation. There was still significant difference of BPD tendency between the two groups after controlling for gender(F=23.135,P>0.01) but there was no significant difference of impulsivity (F=3.536,P>0.05).②Logistic hierarchical regression analysis revealed that only BPD tendency (B=0.319;P=0.009;OR=1.375)had a significant role in the prediction of suicide ideation after controlling for gender and depressive diagnoses. Conclusion Compared with impulsivity,BPD tendency can better predict suicide ideation of counseling patients.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the correlation between the higher-order personality dimension(neuroticism) and the lower-order personality traits (alexithymia,dependence,self-criticism,perfectionism) in the sample of university students, and explore the effect of the higher-order personality dimension and lower-order personality traits to depression in the same sample. Methods A convenient sample of 563 university students from the two Universities College in Hunan province. These students were assessed with Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale (CES-D),Depressive Experiences Questionnaire (DEQ),The twenty-item Toronto Alexithymia Scales (TAS-20),Frost multidimensional perfectionism scale (FMPS) and neuroticism subscale in EPQ.Results (1) There were significant relationships between the total score of CES-D,each depressive symptoms and 10 personality factors, such as neuroticism, doubts about action and so on (The coefficients ranged from 0.105 to 0.569,P <0.05 or P<0.01).(2)Factor analysis and multiple linear regression on the neurotic showed that doubts about action, concerned over mistakes, difficulties identifying feelings (DIF),difficulties describing feelings (DDF),dependency,self-criticism and neuroticism belonged to the factor 1 (the factor load coefficients ranged from 0.574 to 0.775).(3) Neuroticism can explained 32.3 % variance of depression (R 2adj =0.323),after 6 personality factors entered the regression equation, such as difficulties describing feelings (DDF),parental criticism and so on,the explained variance of depression increased to 43.2% (R2adj =0.432).Conclusion There are overlapping and interaction between personality traits which include self-criticism,dependency,difficulties describing feelings(DDF),difficulties identifying feelings (DIF),concerned over the mistakes and neuroticism personality dimensions. The depressed affect are effectively predicted by neuroticism which is a effectively predict factor of depression, personality traits included self-criticism,dependency,alexithymia and malajustment perfectionism have a gain function of depression base on the Neuroticism.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo study the relationship between impulsive behavior and alexithymia in pupils in Changsha. Methods 702 pupils were tested with Barratt impulsivity scale (BIS-11) and Toronto alexithymia scale (TAS-20).Results ( 1 ) Male pupils had significantly higher scores of total BIS and non-planning impulsiveness than female (24.47 ± 5.30 vs 23.40 ± 5.59,P < 0.05 ; 62.25 ± 9.46 vs 60.35 ± 9.91,P < 0.05 ).Pupils in elder age group had only significantly higher total score of BIS than pupils in younger age group ( total:62.36 ± 9.69 vs 60.29 ± 9.68,P< 0.01 ).(2) Pupils with high impulsivity had significantly higher scores of total and factor scores of alexithymia than pupils with low impulsivity (total:57.43 ± 10.16 vs 46.55 ± 8.77,P <0.01 ).The total scores of BIS were positively correlated with total scores of alexithymia ( r =0.40,P < 0.01 ) and factor scores of alexithymia ( r =0.25 ~ 0.33,P < 0.01 ).Stepwise regression analysis revealed that total scores of BIS explained by DIF,DDF and EOT were 18%.ConclusionThere are certain gender and age differences in impulsivity impulsive behavior of 8 to 13 years old pupils. There exist the low to moderate correlations between impulsivity and alexithymia in pupils.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the relationship between academic achievements of high school students and the results of California Psychological Inventory (CPI) of them. Method: Seventy-one higher school students were tested by CPI-RC (revised Chinese version). Their academic achievements were recorded. Results: Nine of the 23 CPI traits, such as Re (responsibility), So (socialize), Wb (comfortable), Ac (achievement), Py (psychologized), Cm (communality), To (tolerance), Sc (self-control), V3 (self accomplishment) had significant correlation with academic achievements (r=0.24~0.33, p<0.05). Students with different prefer (literal arts or science) showed different CPI traits. Students with better academic achievements had higher scores on So, Sc, Wb, To and V3. Conclusion: CPI traits have some relationship to academic achievements of high school students and to their academic preference.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate non-psychiatric doctors' knowledge and attitude toward depression. Method Self-made Depressive Knowledge Questionaire (DKQ), which includes 24 items covering general knowledge, symptoms and other related questions of depression, were used in 346 non-psychiatric doctors who came from different grade general hospitals of Hunan. Results Average score of DKQ was 13.53±2.08,and corrective answering rates to different questions were 14.5%~95.4%.There were some associations between DKQ's score and grade of hospitals, subjects' education and attitude to depression. Conclusion It is necessary to re-educate non-psychiatric doctors with depressive knowledge.

RESUMO

Objective: To explore the relation of psychological abuse and neglect in childhood and college students’ mental health. Methods: Cluster sampling was used to select 457 college students studying in the Central South University and Hunan Commercial College as subjects. The general information questionnaire,Child Psychological Abuse and Neglect Scale (CPANS) and Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) were completed by all subjects. Results: 45.30% of the respondents experienced psychological abuse or neglect in childhood. The total score and scores of each factor of SCL-90 of the group of psychological abuse combined with neglect was above those of psychological-abuse group,neglect-group and neither-abuse-nor-neglect-group. Additionally, ten factor scores and total score of SCL-90 of neglect-group were distinctly higher than those of neither-abuse-nor-neglect-group. The scores of each aspect and sub-scale of CPANS were significantly correlated with every factor and total score of SCL-90(P
